Dezvoltarea comercial\u0103 a \u00eenceput \u00een anii 1850, iar zece de ani mai t\u00e2rziu compania Darjeeling avea deja 4 gr\u0103dini de ceai.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen ziua de azi denumirea de \u201cceai Darjeeling\u201d poate fi utilizat\u0103 doar pentru a desemna ceaiul care a fost cultivat, crescut, prelucrat \u0219i produs \u00een gr\u0103dinile de ceai din aceast\u0103 regiune. Este mai u\u0219or \u0219i mai pu\u021bin astringent dec\u00e2t majoritatea ceaiurilor negre, dar mai complex dec\u00e2t cele verzi. Aroma unic\u0103 a Darjeeling provine din \u00eembinarea ceaiului de origine chinez\u0103 cu condi\u021biile naturale ale regiunii din India, av\u00e2nd un climat rece \u0219i umed. Planta\u021biile sunt amplasate la altitudini ridicate, de 1000-2000 de metri.
