Culoarea ro\u015fie a pulpei este dat\u0103 de <em>antocianin\u0103<\/em>, un antioxidant puternic, cu efecte benefice pentru organism. Cele mai cunoscute sortimente de portocale ro\u015fii sunt Tarocco, Moro \u015fi Sanguinello, care de\u0163in \u015fi certificarea de \u201eindica\u0163ie georgrafic\u0103 protejat\u0103\u201d. Acestea au un <strong>suc ro\u015fu str\u0103lucitor<\/strong>, un parfum proasp\u0103t \u015fi delicat \u015fi un gust dulceag, u\u015for acidulat. Au un con\u0163inut ridicat de vitamina C, pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 potasiu, vitamina A, fier, calciu \u015fi fibre. Pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 acestea mai exist\u0103 \u015fi specii mai rare, ca Pink Navel, Cara Cara sau Vaniglia Sanguigno, la care nuan\u0163a se datoreaz\u0103 licopenului, aceea\u015fi substan\u0163\u0103 care confer\u0103 culoarea specific\u0103 ro\u015fiilor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Citricele au \u00eenceput s\u0103 fie cultivate \u00een Sicilia \u00een timpul domina\u0163iei arabe, adic\u0103 perioada secolelor IX-X. \u00cen prezent, principalele zone din Sicilia pe care se cultiv\u0103 portocale ro\u015fii sunt <strong>Catania \u015fi Siracusa,<\/strong> unde p\u0103m\u00e2ntul vulcanic extrem de fertil a dat na\u015ftere unui mediu propice pentru dezvoltarea lor. Desigur, acestea s-au r\u0103sp\u00e2ndit \u015fi \u00een alte \u0163\u0103ri, ca Spania, Grecia \u015fi chiar \u00een Statele Unite, \u00eens\u0103 aroma \u015fi culoarea celor siciliene este diferit\u0103, datorit\u0103 condi\u0163iilor de sol \u015fi clim\u0103, care influen\u0163eaz\u0103 concentra\u0163ia de <em>antocianin\u0103<\/em>.
